The Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform (SNETP) is pleased to announce the  5th edition of its 2025 Project Portfolio Webinar Series, scheduled for May 7, 2025, from 13:00 to 14:00 CET. This session will focus on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), a new generation of nuclear energy technology designed to be safer, more flexible, and better suited for today’s energy needs.

SMRs are smaller and simpler than traditional nuclear reactors. They can be built in factories and transported to sites where they are needed. Because of their size and design, SMRs can offer reliable, low-carbon energy in a variety of settings, including areas where large power plants are not practical. They also open up the possibility of using nuclear energy for more than just electricity, such as urban heating, industrial processes, and clean fuel production.

The webinar will highlight three innovative Euratom-funded projects driving advancements in safety, integration, and new applications of nuclear energy in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology:

  1. SANE (Safety Assessment of Non-Electric uses of Nuclear Energy)unlocks the potential of non-electric applications of nuclear power, providing reliable energy solutions for a wide range of industrial and societal needs.
  2. TANDEM (Small Modular ReacTor for a European SAfe aNd Decarbonised Energy Mix aims to develop methodologies and tools to facilitate the safe and efficient integration of SMRs into smart low-carbon hybrid energy systems.
  3. EASI-SMR (Ensuring Assessment of Safety Innovation for Small Modular Reactor) focuses on advancing passive safety and innovative technologies to support the safe licensing and deployment of LW-SMRs.

Don’t miss this exciting webinar, part of SNETP’s exclusive series showcasing over 35  Euratom projects driving the future of nuclear safety and innovation. Stay ahead of the curve in next-generation energy solutions and gain insider access to the latest developments shaping the nuclear landscape.

Everyone is welcome to join, whether you are new to nuclear energy or already familiar with the field. The event will include opportunities to ask questions and engage with the speakers.
