The Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform (SNETP) is pleased to announce the 4th edition of its 2025 Project Portfolio Webinar Series, scheduled for April 17, 2025, from 13:00 to 14:00 CET. This session will provide insights into three pivotal Euratom-funded projects aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of nuclear reactors across Europe.

Featured Projects:

  1. MAGIC-RR (Research on Materials Ageing and Structural Integrity of Research Reactors): This project unites 11 expert partners globally to address the challenges associated with aging research reactors, ensuring their continued safe operation through innovation and advanced research.

  2. GO-VIKING (Gathering expertise On Vibration ImpaKt In Nuclear power Generation): Focused on improving the understanding of Flow-Induced Vibrations (FIV) in nuclear fuel assemblies and steam generators, GO-VIKING aims to enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of nuclear power plants.

  3. FIND (Future Instrumentation and coNtrol based on innovative methods and Disruptive technologies for higher safety level): This initiative is developing intelligent detection systems for nuclear facilities to boost operational safety, reduce maintenance costs, and minimize worker exposure to radiation, contributing to the long-term safety of nuclear power plants.

Speakers:

  • Murthy Kolluri: Senior Research Consultant at NRG PALLAS in the Materials and Fuels Irradiations department, with over 13 years of experience. He holds a Ph.D. from Eindhoven University of Technology and serves as the Scientific Coordinator of the MAGIC-RR project (Research on Materials Ageing and Structural Integrity of Research Reactors).

  • Bastien Chapuis is director of research at CEA (French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission). He is an expert in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), developing in his lab solutions based especially on ultrasounds and optical fibers in severe environments. He is the leader of the work on innovative technologies development for the FIND project (Future Instrumentation and coNtrol based on innovative methods and Disruptive technologies for higher safety levels).

  • Dr. Angel Papukchiev: Chief Expert for CFD at GRS gGmbH, specializing in reactor cooling circuit safety, CFD-system code coupling, and flow-induced vibration analysis. He co-coordinates the EU project GO-VIKING on vibration impacts in nuclear power with Kevin Zwijsen (NRG). He holds a Ph.D. from TU München on boron reduction in PWRs and has prior experience in reactor safety assessment at ISaR GmbH.

This webinar is part of SNETP’s ongoing series highlighting over 35 Euratom projects within its portfolio, offering a unique opportunity to stay at the forefront of nuclear safety innovations shaping the future of energy production. Participants will have the chance to engage with the SNETP community, ask questions, and exchange ideas on the future of nuclear energy.
