In November 2020 the Union of the Electricity Industry (Eurelectric), that represents the interests of the electricity industry at pan-European level, published the position paper “Unlocking the potential of Small Modular Reactors in the EU“. This paper highlights the fact that nuclear is the largest source of carbon free electricity generation in many Member States and lists the advantages of deploying Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in the EU. It also gives policy recommendations concerning nuclear energy and SMRs.
