IRRADCOEFH Project

What is IRRADCOEFH?
The objective of this test is to verify the behavior of a new sensor against Gamma Irradiation.
This innovative sensor allow to characterize thermal coefficients, on line using miniaturized thermocouples.
The aim of the test is to check the sensor against gamma radiation and then, increase the working domain of the sensor in radio-active environment.
The maximum dose identified for this test is 20kGy, compatible with the current performances of the gamma radiation facility. Based on new sensor developed by CEA for Thermal characteristics measurements (coef H), the objective of this action through EU-OFFERR fast track action is to verify the behaviour of the sensor against gamma dose. The tests will be performed in the Gamma Irradiator in CVR site.
The irradiation test will be performed by steps (1 kGy/hr). The maximum dose objective will be 20kGy (20 hours) + test at 1 kGy/h at temperature room max. 400°C by step 50°C/by 30 min roughly corresponding to 5 hours.
After each test, the electrical line resistance (350) and insulating resistance (1 M) of the sensor will be measured, if possible on-line measurement with cables and feed through.

Main outcomes
The outcome of this test is to have an experimental characterization of the behavior of the sensor
against gamma irradiation.
Depending of the results obtained, the components of the sensor will be validated or must be changed in order to increase their robustness in these conditions
