What an inspiring week at WNE 2025 (4–6 November 2025)! The World Nuclear Exhibition (WNE) is the premier global gathering for the nuclear industry, bringing together leaders, innovators, and professionals across the entire nuclear value chain, from power generation to advanced applications beyond electricity. SNETP (the Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technology Platform) was proud to participate in this flagship event, supporting innovation, collaboration, and the next generation of talent.

Spotlight on Innovation: Startup Village

As sponsors of the Startup Village, we were proud to showcase a carefully curated group of exceptional startups driving change across the nuclear sector.

The Startup Village highlighted how innovation fuels the nuclear sector, from cutting-edge digital solutions to advanced materials and robotics. It was exciting to see the next generation of entrepreneurs shaping the future of low-carbon energy.

Beyond Electricity: Nuclear Across Industries

WNE 2025 also explored the Beyond Electricity area, demonstrating nuclear's potential beyond power generation. From industrial heat to clean fuels and advanced applications, SNETP sees enormous opportunities to break down silos, foster cross-sector collaboration, and maximize the impact of nuclear innovation.

Leadership and Knowledge Sharing

SNETP board members were active throughout the conference, sharing insights and driving discussions on the future of the nuclear sector:

  • Stephane Sarrade (CEA) & Paul Nevitt (UK National Nuclear Laboratory) spoke at the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) workshop on "Accelerating the Deployment of the 4th Generation," highlighting milestones including the 2025 Framework Agreement, 11 active projects, new white papers, the expanded Gen IV Materials Handbook, and the role of industrial partnerships.
  • Lou Martinez Sancho, Ph.D, MBB (Westinghouse Electric Company) joined the session "Digital & Nuclear: the Perfect Match", showcasing how AI, advanced analytics, digital design, and predictive construction tools are accelerating reactor deployment, optimizing operations, reducing costs, and enhancing safety.
  • Roberto Adinolfi (Ansaldo Nucleare, ESNII Chair) participated in "From Supply Chain to Value Chain: Lessons for Nuclear's Next Wave", examining how the nuclear supply chain can evolve into a fully integrated value chain to support future projects, emphasizing lead-time reduction, quality management, coordination, standardization, scaling production, and investing in skills and innovation.

High-Level Engagement

SNETP was honoured to welcome Bruno Le Maire, France's former Minister of the Economy and Finance (2017–2024), at our booth. His visit underscored the strategic importance of nuclear innovation for Europe's energy transition.

Looking Ahead

WNE 2025 reinforced key themes for the nuclear sector: innovation, collaboration, digital transformation, and skills development. These elements are crucial for preparing the next generation of nuclear professionals and ensuring the sector continues to thrive in an evolving energy landscape.

A huge thank you to the WNE team, our members, and all participants for making this event an exceptional opportunity for learning, networking, and advancing nuclear innovation.

Here's to a bright future for nuclear, powered by collaboration and innovation!
