SUMMARY:International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear Energy 2025
DESCRIPTION:The principal objective of the International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear Energy will be to bring together relevant stakeholders to review and explore opportunities for cooperation and mutual benefit towards the use of nuclear energy to power data centres\, including for enabling AI’s expansion\, and the use of AI to drive innovation and efficiencies in the nuclear industry. \nThe two-day event will primarily focus on assessing and strengthening synergies between nuclear power and AI\, from powering data centres to enhancing and accelerating nuclear innovation. It will also be an opportunity for the AI and nuclear sectors and their associated industries to establish new and/or strengthen synergistic relationships going forward. \nTechnical panel discussions will aim to bring together diverse international perspectives from various experts to foster a comprehensive understanding of how nuclear power can support and address projected energy needs to help ensure that the full scope of opportunities and innovations that AI has to offer come to fruition. The symposium will also elaborate on the IAEA’s role vis-à-vis emerging end-users\, such as the AI industry\, as prospective protagonists in the nuclear energy ecosystem. The dialogue will explore the gamut of nuclear power development and deployment including the complexities of technology selection\, infrastructure development\, stakeholder engagement\, financing\, construction\, operation\, decommissioning and the management of safety\, security\, safeguards and human resources. \nA limited amount of space will be available for exhibitions and the programme will accommodate networking and side events. Contact the Scientific Secretariate by email at AI-Symp-2025@iaea.org for more information.

SUMMARY:Great Pioneer: Core Modelling for Core Design course
DESCRIPTION:Sign up for a course on “Core Modelling for Core Design” (3 ECTS). Registrations will open on September 8th\, 2025.  \nThis course aims to enable students to master the methods used for the neutron transport modelling at the core level in steady-state conditions using Monte Carlo and deterministic methods. \nThe pedagogical format of the course is based on a hybrid flipped classroom. In this format\, you need to complete some preparatory work (representing about 40 hours of work) before attending interactive classes organized during 5 consecutive days (representing about 40 hours of work). Those classes are given in a hybrid set-up\, with participants following the classes either onsite or remotely on the web. Research in engineering education demonstrated that such a teaching format leads to better learning outcomes and increases the interactions between the students and the teachers.  \nOnline self-paced learning phase taking place between November 7th\, 2025\, and December 5th\, 2025. Synchronous activities offered between December 8th\, 2025\, and December 12th\, 2025 (those activities can be attended online or onsite at Chalmers University of Technology\, Gothenburg\, Sweden).  \nInterested? Head over to the Great-Pioneer website to learn more.

SUMMARY:INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON THERMAL-HYDRAULIC SCALING FOR SMR SAFETY DEMONSTRATION
DESCRIPTION:The “INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON THERMAL-HYDRAULIC SCALING FOR SMR SAFETY DEMONSTRATION” Organized by ENEA in collaboration with EDF and UNIROMA1 as part of the European EASI-SMR project\, aims to foster the international exchange of methodologies and best practices related to thermal-hydraulic scaling in the context of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) safety demonstration. The workshop brings together experts from the EASI-SMR project and internationally recognized specialists to address key challenges in applying scaling methodologies to experimental thermal-hydraulic research for SMRs. Discussions will focus on the identification of relevant physical phenomena\, the critical analysis of scaling methodologies\, and the role of both integral and separate-effect tests in supporting safety demonstration. The outcomes will contribute to the characterization of new experimental facilities developed within the EASI-SMR project and provide a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art in thermal-hydraulic scaling for SMRs.
