SUMMARY:Machine-learning for the simulation of nuclear power plants and other complex systems - ASSAS Open Workshop
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to a workshop showcasing the latest advancements in data-driven surrogate models for nuclear severe accident codes\, as part of the ASSAS project. This event will feature presentations on machine learning applications in nuclear sciences and related fields\, with a focus on multiphysics and coupled codes. Join us for insightful discussions\, including a high-level round table\, and take advantage of this free opportunity to expand your knowledge and network with experts in the field. \nThe workshop will present the intermediate results of ASSAS concerning the development of data-driven surrogate models for nuclear severe accident codes\, as described in this paper . Besides\, more than half of the workshop will be dedicated to presentations from participants on related scientific topics. These include the use of machine-learning for simulation in nuclear sciences (neutronics\, thermal-hydraulics\, fluid dynamics\, mechanics…) and beyond (aeronautics\, weather forecasting\, geology\, mechanical engineering…). Applications to Multiphysics and coupled codes are of high interest.\nWe plan to close the workshop with a high-level round table gathering speakers from different backgrounds.\nThe registration and the call for abstracts will be opened in January. You can save the date now and share the information with your network.\nThe participation will be free.

SUMMARY:IGD-TP Exchange Forum
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that the IGD-TP will hold its 10th international Exchange Forum on research and development (R&D) challenges in geological disposal programmes for radioactive waste. Hosted by SÚRAO in November 2025\, the event is open to all IGD-TP members and stakeholders interested in geological disposal of radioactive waste. \nGeological disposal projects are first-of-a-kind projects\, span several decades\, and are multi-billion endeavours. National waste management organisations (WMOs) are at different stages on the path to implementing geological disposal and each stage (site selection and investigation\, licensing\, construction and operation) has particular challenges. The national WMOs will share R&D challenges that each is facing in their current activities and how these are being approached. The Exchange Forum is an opportunity to share lessons learnt and to discuss future research plans. \nOur 10th Exchange Forum provides an excellent opportunity to:\n• Discuss new issues and the status of WMO programmes.\n• Discover emerging geological disposal R&D.\n• Explore the potential for collaborative research with IGD-TP members and the broader radioactive waste community.\n• Take advantage of great networking opportunities.\n• Visit research and disposal facilities in the Czech Republic.\n• Experience the wonderful city of Prague. \nAttendees have the opportunity to potentially tour the Bukov Underground Research Facility or the Richard Repository on the third day.\nPoster sessions will be held to showcase radioactive waste management R&D that aligns to the IGD-TP’s Strategic Research Agenda. Exchange Forum participants are strongly encouraged to submit poster applications that are consistent with this goal. Presentations and posters presented at the Exchange Forum will be made available online. \nRegistration will open via the IGD-TP website from 1 June 2025. The Exchange Forum will be held at the Hilton Hotel in the old town of Prague (https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/prgothi-hilton-prague-old-town/). \nFurther information will be added to the IGD-TP website as it becomes available (www.igdtp.eu). SUMMARY:9th SNETP PROJECT PORTFOLIO WEBINAR – GEMINI 4.0\, PIANOFORTE
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 9th webinar in the SNETP 2025 Project Portfolio Series on 28 November\, from 13:00 – 14:00 CET\, where we will spotlight two key Euratom-funded projects. \n  \nThis session will provide updates on: \n\nGEMINI 4.0 (GEMINI For Zero Emission) aims to build a low-carbon future for industry based on the experience gained through the operation of HTR and knowledge of hydrogen production processes acquired in the previous H2020 project GEMINI+. The project aims to demonstrate that the GEMINI+ system can\, in addition to CO2 free process heat\, provide a global solution for the competitive and safe decarbonisation of industrial activities\, and confirm that this new form of poly-generation of various energy products does not negatively affect the safety of the combined plant.\nPIANOFORTE (Partnership for european research in radiation protection and detection of ionising radiation : towards a safer use and improved protection of the environment and human health) contributes to improving the protection of the public\, workers\, patients and the environment from environmental\, occupational and medical exposure to ionising radiation. By establishing a comprehensive pan-European scientific and technological foundation\, PIANOFORTE aims to support a robust radiological protection system and to develop consolidated\, science-based policy recommendations for decision-makers across diverse sectors that utilise ionising radiation\, both energy and non-energy related.\n\nThroughout the webinar\, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with the SNETP community\, ask questions\, and share insights on the future of nuclear in Europe.
