SUMMARY:European Forum for Radiation Protection 2025 : From Nuclear Risks to the Fight against Cancer – The Key Role of Radiation Protection for a Secure and Healthy Europe
DESCRIPTION:The European Forum for Radiation Protection 2025 addresses topics of nuclear risks preparedness and radiation protection in the health sector. \nWhile radiation always poses a risk to human health and the environment\, radiation research has led to a rapid technical and medical progress and prosperity. As a society\, we are frequently faced with questions of risk evaluation. Which risks are we willing to take and to what extent? These same questions need to be applied towards artificial and natural radiation. Better risk assessment and management is essential for protecting people’s health – whether in everyday life\, at the workplace\, in medicine and cosmetics\, and certainly in a nuclear emergency. Join the European radiation protection community at our event that will highlight the significance of radiation protection for European member states\, EU markets and society and address the necessity for political backing to enhance European and national efforts in radiation protection research\, policies\, and sustainable practices. It will serve as a forum to facilitate dialogue among European policymakers\, representatives from member states and experts.

SUMMARY:International Conference on Excellence in Nuclear Construction 2025
DESCRIPTION:Meeting the objective of tripling nuclear energy by 2050 will require the deployment of more than 20 gigawatts per year of new installed nuclear capacity from 2030 to 2050\, a level of expansion that was last seen during the construction of the existing nuclear fleets in the 1970s and 1980s. \nRecent nuclear construction projects in OECD countries have been\, in most cases\, marked by significant delays and cost overruns. Whilst some of those challenges could be attributed to difficulties inherent with the deployment of first-of-a-kind reactor designs\, they revealed structural challenges across the OECD nuclear supply chain in terms of project management\, contractual practices and overall delivery strategy. \nIn this context\, the NEA is organising the first International Conference on Excellence in Nuclear Construction in London\, United Kingdom\, on 18-19 June 2025. This event will bring together leaders from the nuclear industry and key stakeholders in the nuclear value chain\, with a particular emphasis on engineering\, procurement and construction (EPC) companies. \nThis conference will take an engineering-first approach\, exploring the organisational\, contractual and cultural factors that shape project outcomes. It will provide a platform for practical\, solutions-driven dialogue on making nuclear construction faster\, more predictable and more cost-effective through improvements in engineering and project execution. It comes as a response to interest from 2024 Roadmaps to New Nuclear and builds the momentum for the 2025 edition of Roadmaps to New Nuclear.

SUMMARY:Short course on Severe Accident Phenomenology (SAP2025)
DESCRIPTION:This edition of the Short Course on Severe Accident Phenomenology (SAP2025) will take place from Monday 23 to Friday 27 June 2025 at FZJ Jülich (Germany) and followed by the first edition of the Severe Accident Summer Camp (SASCAMP2025) in June 30 – July 4\, 2025. Both events are organized in the framework ofthe SEAKNOT Euratom project on “Severe accident research and knowledge management for LWRs”. \nThe Severe Accident Phenomelogy (SAP) short course is based on the knowledge gained on Severe Accident in the last three decades. The main purpose is to transfer it to M.Sc.‐Ph.D. students\, engineers and researchers recently involved in the study of severe accidents.\nThis SAP 2025 edition follows the 2023 SAP Course held in Madrid\, which was the first public event under the EURATOM SEAKNOT project. It also continues the tradition of the previous NUGENIA TA2 editions held in Bologna (2021\, online)\, Cadarache (2019)\, and Ljubljana (2017). In this edition\, updated and extended contents will be presented again face‐to‐face. The program will cover severe accident phenomenology\, progression and mitigation in current and future advance water reactors (Generation 2\, 3\, 3+\, SMRs). Severe accident codes and their uncertainties will be also addressed. A special focus will be done on the Fukishima-Daiichi severely damaged reactors and their decommissioning. \nAs in the specific objectives of the SEAKNOT project\, reputed scientists and engineers will be lecturing beyond what’s written in books\, papers and reports\, so that not just their knowledge but also their expertise\, is passed to young generation of students\, engineers and researchers in the severe accident field. What’s even as important\, enough time will be planned for questions-and-answers and networking during the course. \nThe course and summer camp will be open to University students with special fees (few scholarships will be made available upon request) \nLatest updates\n\nRegistration is now open\, please register until March 31st 2025 at the latest.\n(in total 27 seats remaining for SAP and 8 seats for SASCAMP. Registrations are handled on a first come\, first serve basis)\n\n\nENEN is kindly supporting 10 participants with a lumped sum of 900€ each. You can apply here via ‘Individuals applying for group applications’ and select ‘Severe Accident Phenomenology short course’. This application is complementary to a (existing) registration and subject to the funding rules of ENEN.

SUMMARY:Severe Accident Summer Camp (SASCamp2025)
\nThe course and summer camp will be open to University students with special fees (few scholarships will be made available upon request) \nLatest updates\n\nENEN is kindly supporting 10 participants with a lumped sum of 900€ each. You can apply here via ‘Individuals applying for group applications’ and select ‘Severe Accident Phenomenology short course’. This application is complementary to a (existing) registration and subject to the funding rules of ENEN.\nRegistration is now open\, please register until January 31st 2025 for early bird discount\n(in total 52 seats remaining for SAP and 12 seats for SASCAMP. Registrations are handled on a first come\, first serve basis)
