SUMMARY:2nd SNETP PROJECT PORTFOLIO WEBINAR - MIMOSA & ENDURANCE
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the second webinar in the SNETP 2025 Project Portfolio Series on 14 February\, 13:00 – 14:00\, where we will provide updates on two important Euratom-funded projects of our SNETP Portfolio focused on molten salt reactor (MSR) technology. Learn more about: \n  \nENDURANCE is a project which enhances molten salt reactor (MSR) technology by addressing key aspects such as fuel chemistry\, materials\, and safety\, with the goal of creating a scientific roadmap for MSR deployment in Europe. \n  \nMIMOSA is a project which explores the use of fast-spectrum MSRs with chloride salts for multi-recycling of LWR spent fuels\, aiming to develop and compare strategies while demonstrating MSR feasibility and performance. \n  \nThroughout the webinar\, you’ll have the chance to ask questions and engage with the SNETP community\, exchanging ideas and insights on the future of nuclear energy. \n  \nRegister now here to secure your spot and be part of the discussion! \n

SUMMARY:Re-energise: economic growth beyond the Green Deal
DESCRIPTION:Re-energise: economic growth beyond the Green Deal \n\n11:30 – 17:30\nTuesday 18th February 2025\nEU Thon Hotel\, Rue de la loi 75\, 1040 Brussels\n\nRegistration from 11:00 \nREGISTER HERE\nEurope’s economies are struggling under the burden of regulation\, the cost of energy\, and dependency on foreign powers and companies. At the heart of this are environmental policies\, especially the package of policies that were the hallmark of Ursula von der Leyen’s first term: the Green Deal. \nIn response to criticism\, the Green Deal has been repackaged as the Clean Industrial Deal. But does this go far enough to address the problems Europe faces? Europe’s problems are vast: from failing policies at home to pressures coming from abroad. External problems concern for example Europe’s dependency on critical raw materials and energy sources that it needs to import\, while internally-generated problems include the inhibition of European enterprises by excessive regulation\, misallocation of resources\, and policies that increasingly drive companies away from Europe. \nThe roots of these problems are deep. This conference will address two areas fundamental to Europe’s success: energy and industry. We will examine both policy errors and potential solutions. How do we move beyond platitudes and seriously re-energise European economies? \nConference: Re-energise: economic growth beyond the Green Deal \n\nPanel 1: Europe’s economic reality and the impact of the Green Deal\nPanel 2: Powering European growth\nPanel 3: Re-energise: finding an alternative vision to the Green Deal\n\n

SUMMARY:TANDEM Technical Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The TANDEM project is organising a second\, free\, open technical workshop on 20-21 February 2025 and will be held at “Le Benedettine” Congress Centre of the University of Pisa (UNIPI)\, Pisa (Italy) on ‘Modelling and optimisation tools to assess hybrid energy systems integrating nuclear reactors’. \nThe technical workshop is specifically conceived for MSc and PhD students\, PostDocs\, young and experienced researchers and engineers that are interested in deepening their knowledge on the potential role that hybrid energy systems including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) play in the ongoing energy transition.\nThe workshop will focus on the description of SMR modelling and optimisation tools to assess hybrid energy systems integrating nuclear reactors\, together with the SMR coupling with other energy sources and energy storage systems in hybrid energy systems. \nPlease note that\, given the specificity of the technical workshop\, applicants are required to have a general background in nuclear systems. The registration deadline for the workshop is 15 January 2025. The number of in-person participants will be limited to 30 people. Registrations will therefore be subject to selection by the organisers. Please note that the event will also be accessible online for those unable to attend physically. \nRegister here and find the event agenda here. \nFor the organising committee of the 2nd TANDEM technical workshop at ”Le Benedettine” Congress Centre of the University of Pisa: \n\nWalter Ambrosini\, University of Pisa\nAndrea Pucciarelli\, University of Pisa\nAlessandro De Angelis\, University of Pisa\nClaire Vaglio-Gaudard\, CEA – Coordinator of TANDEM project\nStefano Lorenzi\, Politecnico di Milano\nMarco Ricotti\, CIRTEN\nGabriel Pavel\, ENEN – Leader of the E&T activities in the TANDEM project\n\nTake a look at the previous edition of the TANDEM Technical Workshop that took place in September 2024 in Cadarache\, France
