SUMMARY:IGD-TP Exchange Forum
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce that the IGD-TP will hold its 10th international Exchange Forum on research and development (R&D) challenges in geological disposal programmes for radioactive waste. Hosted by SÚRAO in November 2025\, the event is open to all IGD-TP members and stakeholders interested in geological disposal of radioactive waste. \nGeological disposal projects are first-of-a-kind projects\, span several decades\, and are multi-billion endeavours. National waste management organisations (WMOs) are at different stages on the path to implementing geological disposal and each stage (site selection and investigation\, licensing\, construction and operation) has particular challenges. The national WMOs will share R&D challenges that each is facing in their current activities and how these are being approached. The Exchange Forum is an opportunity to share lessons learnt and to discuss future research plans. \nOur 10th Exchange Forum provides an excellent opportunity to:\n• Discuss new issues and the status of WMO programmes.\n• Discover emerging geological disposal R&D.\n• Explore the potential for collaborative research with IGD-TP members and the broader radioactive waste community.\n• Take advantage of great networking opportunities.\n• Visit research and disposal facilities in the Czech Republic.\n• Experience the wonderful city of Prague. \nAttendees have the opportunity to potentially tour the Bukov Underground Research Facility or the Richard Repository on the third day.\nPoster sessions will be held to showcase radioactive waste management R&D that aligns to the IGD-TP’s Strategic Research Agenda. Exchange Forum participants are strongly encouraged to submit poster applications that are consistent with this goal. Presentations and posters presented at the Exchange Forum will be made available online. \nRegistration will open via the IGD-TP website from 1 June 2025. The Exchange Forum will be held at the Hilton Hotel in the old town of Prague (https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/prgothi-hilton-prague-old-town/). \nFurther information will be added to the IGD-TP website as it becomes available (www.igdtp.eu). SUMMARY:International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear Energy 2025
DESCRIPTION:The principal objective of the International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Nuclear Energy will be to bring together relevant stakeholders to review and explore opportunities for cooperation and mutual benefit towards the use of nuclear energy to power data centres\, including for enabling AI’s expansion\, and the use of AI to drive innovation and efficiencies in the nuclear industry. \nThe two-day event will primarily focus on assessing and strengthening synergies between nuclear power and AI\, from powering data centres to enhancing and accelerating nuclear innovation. It will also be an opportunity for the AI and nuclear sectors and their associated industries to establish new and/or strengthen synergistic relationships going forward. \nTechnical panel discussions will aim to bring together diverse international perspectives from various experts to foster a comprehensive understanding of how nuclear power can support and address projected energy needs to help ensure that the full scope of opportunities and innovations that AI has to offer come to fruition. The symposium will also elaborate on the IAEA’s role vis-à-vis emerging end-users\, such as the AI industry\, as prospective protagonists in the nuclear energy ecosystem. The dialogue will explore the gamut of nuclear power development and deployment including the complexities of technology selection\, infrastructure development\, stakeholder engagement\, financing\, construction\, operation\, decommissioning and the management of safety\, security\, safeguards and human resources. \nA limited amount of space will be available for exhibitions and the programme will accommodate networking and side events. SUMMARY:ESARDA course on Nuclear Safeguards and Non-proliferation
DESCRIPTION:General objective \nThe ESARDA course on nuclear safeguards and non-proliferation was set up as a follow-up to the United Nations recommendations on disarmament and non-proliferation education of 2002 (United Nations\, 2002)\, to complement nuclear engineering studies by teaching the technical aspects of safeguards\, contribute to a two-fold scientific-technical and political-juridical education\, and stimulate interest in this multi-disciplinary field. \nThe ESARDA course is of major importance for technical knowledge retention and for enrolling the younger generation in the nuclear safeguards field\, since it deals specifically with technical aspects and application of safeguards and non-proliferation tools\, including examples of in-field implementation of the safeguards principles and methodology at the different nuclear facilities. \nA maximum of 34 participants is foreseen (possibility of ENEN2plus mobility grant is being investigated). All participants are requested to attend all sessions. \n\nMore info >

SUMMARY:fiv2026 : Flow-Induced Vibration 2026
DESCRIPTION:Flow-induced vibration and noise and the physical parameters which control them are of significant importance to design engineers and operators of systems in a wide range of industries ranging from aerospace\, automotive and civil engineering to marine structures\, electricity generation and chemical processing. The potential of these phenomena to cause catastrophic failure to engineering systems and unacceptably high levels of environmental and occupational noise has required that significant effort be dedicated to understanding and mitigating against these challenges in the interests of human safety. \n\nMore info >
